We do our best to give accurate pricing for every project.

Due to the many variations in a mailing such as printing, folding, data cleaning and quantities we cannot set out a standard price structure here.

However, we can tell you the things you need to think about when deciding the likely cost.

POSTAGE

Royal Mail standard stamped postage (as at 6th April 2009) is: 2nd class letter 30p; 2nd class large letter 47p; 1st class letter 39p; 1st class large letter 61p. All these prices are for weights up to 100gms.

Unless you have an account with Royal Mail you will pay the full stamp price. But as we have an account, we are able to offer you a reduced rate as below.

POSTAGE DISCOUNTS
Summit can offer a variety of discounts on these rates using Mailsort, where we pre-sort the post via Royal Mail or other mail suppliers - ie: TNT. These apply to mailings over 4,000 letter rate or 1,000 large letter. For large quantities these saving can amount to as much as 20%. (Smaller quantities will attract smaller discounts).

DATA (i.e. NAMES AND ADDRESSES)
If you are supplying your own data, there is often a requirement to “clean” the data to make it presentable for Royal Mail purposes.  We price on an hourly basis for this and do our best to keep charges to a minimum.  The need to tidy data becomes more important for large quantities, since your potential postage discount relies on accuracy of data, including post codes.

If you are renting your data and your mailing is going to members of the public, you should confirm that it has been cleaned against the Mailing Preference Service list, which will remove those people who have signed-up to receive no direct mail.  If the list has not been cleaned, we will carry out the MPS cleaning for you.  There will be a small charge for this, but it means you are complying with UK regulations.

If you intend to rent your data, then factor in a typical rental charge of between £100 - £150 per thousand.

MATERIALS
You need to factor in the cost of materials.  What do you plan to send in your mailing?  If it is printed matter, then there will be printing costs.  If you intend to send a personalised letter, then we will charge you to laser-print the letter onto your supplied letterheads.

You will usually need envelopes (unless your mailing is an all-in-one item).  So, include the cost of envelopes in your budget planning.

ENCLOSING, ADDRESSING AND POSTING
We will charge you to fold (if necessary) your items, to enclose the items into envelopes and to address the envelopes (either by printing straight onto the envelope or by adhesive labels).  There is no envelope-addressing charge if you use window envelopes, but remember that those envelopes may be more expensive than standard envelopes.  Also, window envelopes can make your mailing less attractive and may still need to be over-printed with a PPI stamp. Our prices are per-thousand for this work and get cheaper per thousand the higher the quantity involved.
